        then Penelope offers him xenia and a foot bath and he will only trust the old woman
        
        He worries about her feeling the scar caused by a boar because then the slave who is Eurycleia and has been with Odysseus since birth will know who he is
        
        the story of how Odysseus got the scar with his cousins is told
        
        Eurycleia exclaims that it is Odysseus and Odysseus chokes her but Penelope does not hear

        Telemachus helps Odysseus and tells the suitors to be nice to the stranger

        Odysseus asks to try the bow and the suitors disagree but Penelope lets them do it and Telemachus yells at her
