        At this time of immigration, politics has a widespread debate that is still ongoing on what to do and how to treat illegal immigrants. As the time of this was when Presidency changed from Obama to Trump, the ideologies and acts passed were near polar opposites, creating tension and sensitivity in the topic

        2017-present: Executive orders were being placed which attempted to deport many undocumented people from the United States. Also, further executive orders were created to travel ban certain countries like Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. These continuous executive orders sparked a lot of controversy with the citizens and politicians of America.
      - With 9/11 occuring a year prior immigration began to be watched more closely with enhanced border control. There was a change in the view of immigrants in 2012 when Obama introduced DACA along with allowing immigrants to come to America during the global refugee crisis of 2015
      - Prior to 2001, the US welcomed immigration by air travel more loosely security wise, but following the 9/11 attacks, immigration travel security was substantially increased and made immigration more difficult.
- - - - The greatest impact on immigration during this time period is the Europeans using racism and prejudice against other cultures and races. An example is the Indian Removal Act of 1830.
