ORGANISMS ARE MADE UP OF CELLS
THE PARTS OF CELL
Plasma membrane
: Layer that
surrounds
it. Regulates the substances entering and leaving.
Genetic material
: DNA molecules.
Cytoplasm
: Jelly-like liquid containing organelles.
Organelles
: Each organelle has a specific function.
TYPES OF ORGANELLES
NUCLEUS
: This controls cell activity. Genetic material: chromosomes
GOLGI APPARATUS
: This modify and transport lipids and proteins.
CELL WALL
: This protects the plant cell. Outside of the plasma membrane.
CHLOROPLASTS
: Perform photosynthesis.
MITOCHONDRIA
: This generates energy.
VACUOLE OR LYSOSOME
: Store different substances.
RIBOSOMES
: These produce or synthesise proteins.
SMOOTH AND ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM
: Synthesise lipids and transport them.
THE CELLS
Cells are
basic unit
of
structure
and
function
in living things.
To see a cell we need a
microscope
.
A cell carry out the
three vital functions
.
2 types of living organisms:
Unicellular: only 1 cell
Pluricellular: several cells
