Non verbal
Non verbal communication is one of the hardest skills to master as small changes in body language say more than 1000 words
Open body language with a non defensive posture is key
Taking the time to engage with staff
Stop doing the tasks in front and adjust to 'come down' to the persons level
Remain neutral initially
More difficult with masks as vast majority of face is covered so at times has to be supported with the written word in many formats

Kinesthetic learners need to visualise, listen and see how things are undertaken such as practical demonstration following a video clip such as Neonatal Life Support which is video clips of resuscitation followed by practical skills of the discussed points
Written
Assists the visual learner, has to be in font large enough to read with constrasting colours for those with additional learning requirements
Verbal

Clear instructions in stages assists this learner i.e one step at a time not all of the information at the same time - stepped information
Reader and writer
That the learner has time to take down the information given and that handouts are provided for notes to be taken as lots of nurses learn by writing. Materials provided need to have references that are accessible at a different times
