The Project Life Cycle.
The life cycle of the Project covers the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure of the Project, that is, from its birth to its completion.
To successfully complete the Project, we will need to execute, during the Project's life cycle, a sequence of Project Management processes, related to each other, which we will see in full detail later.
What is the Triple Constraint of the Project. The Projects are intended to achieve a specific objective, a specific and perfectly delimited scope of the Project, in a specific time and with a defined set of resources. We call this the triple constraint of the Project, that is, scope of the Project + Project time + Project costs.
The Program, the Portfolio and PMO
The Projects are not isolated entities, they coexist with other Projects and live under the umbrella of an organization with its rules, procedures and general strategy.
Program Management: Program Management is technical in nature. It is based on the global vision of the company to achieve the strategic objectives of the company through the Projects it executes.
Portfolio Management: Portfolio management is a dynamic decision process, where the sets of Projects are evaluated, selected, prioritized and reviewed, according to the contribution to the organization's strategy.
The Actors involved in the Project
The Projects are made by people. In addition, they are done because there are people who need their results. We must know everyone who influences or may be influenced by the Project.
The Project Manager
It is the Project Management professional who deals with the application of good knowledge, skills, tools, techniques and adequate leadership to maximize the guarantees of success and achieve the satisfaction of the Project client.
Who is Responsible for the Project: The Project Director is a professional who is dedicated to directing Projects effectively, he is the maximum responsible for the entire life cycle of the Project, from the presentation of the plan for the management of the Project until the delivery of the Project result in term, quality and cost.
