For students who have a grasp of the materials about to be taught, an individual extension activity can be given to them to help them express their understanding more effectively - using vocabulary cards to enhance their learning:

Formative assessment: I will use my initial pre-assessmnet worksheet as a formative assessment. I can then compare their original worksheet to the new one to measure any progress
If students have understood everything then they can move onto a more advanced project based activity:

If students still do not understand the material they will continue to work on the Vocabulary Worksheets

These students will be given devices to watch a video, explaining the concepts with images. They will then attempt to complete an adjusted worksheet:

If the students are still not understanding the material they will be given more individual attention and tasked with continuing to work on their Circle Map
2 students who are SEN
I will work with these students individually, to measure their degree of need for support and to adjust the materials appropriately
Formative assessment: I will use my initial pre-assessmnet worksheet as a formative assessment. I can then compare their original worksheet to the new one to measure any progress
If the student has improved understanding they can then attempt to watch the video and complete the Circle Map shared above. They can also attempt the vocabulary activity.
If the student is still struggling, then more individual attention will be needed, and activities and explanations adjusted accordingly.
12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
Divide this group into three teams. Each team will work together at a station. Each station will have a different vocabulary activity, matching pictures and definitions, and writing vocabulary by hand:
