- - - - The soil on which a forest is established is normally porous, which allows water reaching the ground surface to infiltrate through its pores.

      - 20% of the water that falls is intercepted by the tree canopy, from where it is returned to the atmosphere by evaporation.
      - And the remaining 25% of the water is evaporated from the surface layers of the soil and returned to the atmosphere, thus completing the water cycle.
