REACTION TYPES
COMBUSTION
It occurs when a substance reacts with oxygen and releases heat and light.
ex. CH4+O2=> CO2+H2O
C4H10+O2=>CO2+H2O
C3H7OH+O2=> CO2+H2O
COMBINATION
It occurs when two or more compounds create a new compound.
C+O2->CO2....Fe+S->FeS....2Na+Cl2->2NaCl
DECOMPOSITION
It occurs when a single compound breaks down into two or more compounds.
ex. CO-> C+O ..... H2O->H2+1/2O2 ....
2KOH-> K2O+H2O
DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT
It occurs when the anions and cations of the compounds switch places.
Na2S+HCl->NaCl+H2S...........Na2SO4+SrCl2
->2NaCl+SrSO4.........KBr+AgNO3->KNO3+AgBr
SINGLE DISPLACMENT
It occurs when an element switch places with another.
K+NaCl->KCl+Na......F2+2NaBr->NaF+Br2 ......Zn+2HCl->ZnCl2+H2
PRECIPITATION
It occurs when aqueous compounds react to form an insoluble solid called precipitate.
CuSO4(aq)+2NaOH(aq)=Na2SO4(aq)+Cu(OH)2(s)
ACID-BASE/ NEUTRALIZATION
It occurs when an acid and a base compound react and create water and salt.
HCl+NaOH-> NaCl+H2O....HBr+KOH->KBr+H2O ...NaOH+H2SO4->Na2SO4+H2O
