READING SKILLS - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Read the first and last sentences of the paragraph.
        
        Pay attention to any idea that is repeated in different ways.
        
        Look for a sentence that states the main idea.
        
        Look for reversal transitions at the beginning of sentences.
        
        At times the main idea will not be stated directly.

        Make the most of your time.
        
        Need to review a text that we have read before.

        Wheat vs. chaff.
        
        Visual & verbal cues.
    - - Read the first paragraph attentively to get an idea of what will be discussed in the text.
        
        Read some sentences of each paragraph
        
        Looking for important pieces of information, such as dates and names.
        
        Read the last paragraph attentively as it may contain the summary.

        Identify what the author is saying about the topic.
        
        Identify details that support or explain the main idea.
