In "Burning Oneself Out" there is no rhyme or syllable structure. Commas separate each line, and it is rare for there to be punctuation at the end of each line. Only at the ends of lines 2 and 4, and lines 10 and 12, the same word is used at the end of each line, (“yes” ending lines 2 and 4 and “hand” ending lines 10 and 12). The first two lines are a couplet; the third line stands alone, and then there are six more three line stanzas following that. The longest lines have up to 10, 11, and 12 lines. The others have 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, but in no specific order. Overall there are many free verses with no rhyme or meter.
