During the transition between middle ages and early modern ages some monarch adopted following measures

They prohibited nobles to form their own armies
Also created diplomatic body for alliances with other monarchs
Strengthened bureaucracy
Was composed of officials directly under their control
In this way monarchs maintain effectively control of their possessions
Centralized power
By creating institutions to serve them
The power of centralist institutions was higher than the feudal lords
Asresult of increase in agricultural and artisan production
There was a growth in disposable wealth and proceeds from taxes
Monarch had more resources so became more powerful
Were able to reform old institutions and create new ones
Their main objectives were
Consolidate the authority
Control the power of nobility
Maintain a strong position of power in relation to other monarchs
