ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
*PITUITARY GLAND
-
PROLACTIN
It stimulates milk production. It awakens the maternal instinct. It secretes estrogen and progesterone.
-
-
-
FSH
It stimulates ovarius and testicles and regulates their work Stimulates female estrogen secretion and egg formation Stimulates sperm production in men .
LH
It provides testosterone production in males and allows eggs to be released from the ovary in females.
GH - GROWTH HORMONE -
Stimulates DNA pairing Accelerates cell growth and division * Stimulates RNA and protein synthesis .
*HORMONAL DISORDER -
If too much hormone is secreted , it causes gigantism .
If hormones secreted less , it causes dwarfism.
*THYROID GLAND
Secretes thyroxine and calcitonine hormones. It is a gland located under the larynx, on either side of the trachea. It has two lobes.
HYPOTHYROIDISM-It occurs as a result of insufficient secretion of thyroxine hormone in the fetus. It causes folly.
-
CALCITONINE HORMONE- It regulates the level of Ca in the blood. *When Ca increases in the blood, the thyroid gland is stimulated, calcitonin is secreted, and it reduces calcium reabsorption from the kidneys.
*PARATHYROID HORMONE
-
*PARATHORMONE-
It allows calcium and phosphate to pass into the blood. Allows calcium to enter the blood from the kidneys and intestines
If parathormone secreted less , Calcium value in the blood decreases, tremors occur and muscle pain occurs. This situation is called tetany.
If parathormone secreted so much , Muscles respond late to stimuli, and kidney stone formation occurs.
*ADRENAL GLANDS
ADRENAL MEDULLA- Aldosterone-It regulates sodium and K metabolism. Increases blood volume and pressure.
CORTISOL HORMONE- regulates carbohydrate, protein and protein metabolism.
Gonadal Sex Hormones-Very little androgen is secreted. Excessive secretion of androgen causes diseases.
*ADRENAL CORTEX-In this region, adrenaline and noradrenaline are secreted.
ADRENALINE-It ensures the destruction of glycogen in the liver and muscles, the glucose level increases, the heartbeat accelerates, the amount of blood going to the brain and skeleton increases, pupils dilate. These are just a few of the examples.
NORADRENALINE-Its effect is less than adrenaline. It raises blood pressure and constricts blood vessels.
*PANCREAS-The pancreas is a mixed gland, it secretes both internal and external secretions. It is responsible for the secretion of Glucagon and Insulin hormones.
GLUCAGON-It is secreted when the amount of glucose in the blood decreases to a certain value. It stimulates the destruction of glycogen in the liver. It increases the blood glucose level.
INSULIN HORMONE-It is secreted when the glucose in the blood reaches a certain level. It lowers the glucose level in the blood.
It is secreted when the glucose in the blood reaches a certain level. It lowers the glucose level in the blood.
