An effective TIP: Competitive programmes at various levels, talent spotting --> high quality coaches and talent scouts. Equal opportunities, monitored with appropriate testing, built on good practise. Funding allocated to performers at different stages of development. High quality testing and training facilities. Organisations working together. Simple admin and record keeping. High level provision of support services during ID and progression.
Advantages for Talent ID programmes --> All potential performers can be screened. Performers can be directed to sports most suited to their talents. Development can be accelerated as a result of the information gained. efficient use of the funding available for talent ID schemes. Chances for medallists increased. Coordinated approach between organisations
Disadvantages for talent ID programmes --> may miss out late developers. Requires a lot of funding. Requires a large number of people to be tested to be effective. No guaranteed success. Many sports in competition for the same talent pool - high profile sports may attract more performers or the best performers.
