Globalisation
has many different dimensions
- social, cultural, technological, economic, financial and political - which affect all of us in our daily lives.
The Internet and the WWW
have removed the barriers that lead to th reisolation of countries, communities and individuals.
Cultural globalisation
can be interpreted as changing the world from diverse mutlicultural places to a single homogenous culture. We now have access to an incredible variety of foods from all over the world without actually leaving our own country. Music and fashions fromm different countries are being fused and reinvented all the time.
The increase in the number of people and products which move around the world, and the speed at which they do so, has led to an
increase in the risk of global health issues
. But globalisation has contributed to health improvements through diffusion of new health knowledge, low-cost health technologies, and human rights.
ADVANTAGES:
People have more options to choose from among the products of different countries
It enables the propagation of democratic ideals and human rights awareness
There is an increase in free trade between countries
Developed countries invest in developing ones
It decreases the possibility of war between countries
Global mass media connect all the people in the world
The trasport of goods and people is quickier and easier
Corporations increase their operation across borders
DISADVANTAGES:
Poor countries are exploited by richer countries.
We have a cultural exchange between developed and devoloping countries.
The ecosystem is threatened by the abuse of natural resources and the pollution.
There is a higher risk of the spread of communicable diseases.
The domination and control by multinationals corrupts national governements
It widens the poverty gap.
