Political schism
In the 1960s, the USRR-China broke
up over interpretations of Marxism
and revolutionary processes.

Civil rights and breaks
In the 1950s, there were protests
against discrimination and demands
for effective equality in voting, work
and services. There were violent
attitudes, but Martin Luther King
imposed pacifism.
The resistance of the population to the
unpopular Vietnam War and the defeat
made the public desperate. The
Vietnamese were facing the greatest
power in the world and were winning it.
Crisis of capitalism in the United States,
President Richard Nixon was tried by
Congress for the political espionage
called Watergate, revealing corruption
and the power of the press.
Energy crisis
In the 1970s, the "energy crisis" broke
out in the hydrocarbon-producing
countries of the world, which led to
a rise in oil prices.
The crisis increased the power of several countries, forced to make changes to save fuel, especially the countries that had no oil and were forced to make huge sacrifices to get it.
Fall of communism
In the 1980s, the weight of Stalinism, the
abandonment of socialist ideals and
bureaucratization collapsed.

Yugoslavia dissolved in the midst of a
bloody civil war. The Berlin Wall was torn down
in 1989 and East Germany was annexed to the

European integration

integrations, forming a great economic
power, what was called the European
Common Market formed by six
countries, later the number rose to 27.
Asian growth
Japan was devastated by the war and
then occupied by the United States,
which allowed the rapid rebuilding
of its industry.
The Japanese turned their country
into a powerhouse in the production of
automobiles and technology goods. Singapore,
Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea became
industrialized.
