Motion Capture Unit by Evangelina McCabe
Identify
Identify the Challenge
Design a system that provides real-time feedback to physical therapy patients
Tool must be low-cost
Tool must be able to be used outside of a clinical setting
Generate
Ideas for code
None yet, once I figure out what coding skills we need, I will add more here
Prototype ideas
have a stand so the prototype can stand without human assistance
Use a long-sleeve black shirt so the sleeve can easily be used
Cut small holes but not too small so it can move
Foam Board might be easier to work with, so use that
Use bolts & screws so it can move easily
Maybe have a removable stand

Describe
Know
Focus on a single joint
Build a prototype of that joint
our tool will:
look a how the bones move
look at how the joints move
look at potential injury risks
optimize performance
Use reflective markers to show up on camera
data will be compared to athletes
product has to be:
universally available
low cost
Need to know
What software will we be using?
What Python skills will I need?
Will the type of injury affect the way we use the software?
Will we use footage of an actual injured athlete?
What is the maximum/minimum cost?
Will someone use the data we collect?
