Campaigning
Through sports, campaigns can be set up to try and get people to become more active and as a result, a healthier community. To begin the campaign, starting social medias and websites can branch out to a much wider community. By doing this, people can be much more aware of how much an issue obesity is within our community.
Social- By campaigning, the community can be brought together to try and tackle the problem. It also can affect those who may be obese to become more socially active and want to participate in more activities such as sports.
Technological- Websites and social medias can be set up for the campaign resulting in a much wider community backing the campaign.
Positives- Raising awareness of the severity of obesity.
Show support to those who may be overweight or obese through the campaign.
Cause obesity prevention due to people becoming more aware of how to stay fit and active.
Negatives- People may not support the campaign resulting in the campaign failing.
Real world example- 'Better Health' campaign. Many new laws were introduced such as a ban on shows and advertisements high in sugar and fat.
By doing this, the government created a campaign that led to many more healthy lifestyle choices.
Health advertisements
By placing advertisements promoting good health and self care, awareness can be spread of the possible underlying health conditions that being overweight can cause.
'Change4Life' is an example of an advertisement campaigning people to live a healthier lifestyle over a sedentary lifestyle by showing the effects of of being unhealthy.
Positives: Promotes healthy lifestyle and encourages people to change their unhealthy habits.
Prevents unhealthy advertisements such as fast foods.
Negatives: Advertisements cost money to be placed across the media
Money that has gone in to advertisements could have been placed on creating more opportunities for people to be healthier such as investing in local activities in communities.

Increasing sugar tax
One issue with unhealthy foods such as ones that are high in sugar and fat, is the price between these foods and healthy foods is not much. By increasing the sugar tax, the government can encourage the public to stop buying these unhealthy, high calorie foods and instead opt for a healthier, cheaper option.
Economical- Buy increasing the sugar tax, this will increase many costs of foods and this money would go towards many different services such as the emergency services.
Political- Due to this being a decision that would change the nation, this is a matter of politics as they would be the governing body who makes the decision whether to increase taxes or not.
Positives- Increasing the price of unhealthy foods can influence people to eat healthier as it is not only beneficial for price, but also because they will be living a much healthier lifestyle. Negatives- The public could react badly to the increase in tax and could create an outburst of frustration towards the governing bodies who made the decision to increase the tax
Though the consumption of high sugar drinks never changed, companies such as Coca Cola reduced the amount of sugar in their drinks to prevent the extra charges. By decreasing their sugar levels, the UK is not consuming as much as it was meaning that the sugar tax affected the public positively.
