Focus on Learning, not Training: A Debate
Learning describes a person growing. Whereas training merely describes transfer of knowledge or skills for organizational gain.
Training is a chore; people do it because they're paid to. People respond to appropriate learning because they want to.

Development
Making the most that one can out of opportunities in both outer & inner sphere (Pedlar, 1995).
Formal education, job experience, relationship & assessment of personality & abilities that help employees perform effectively (Noe, 2008).
As an act or process of developing, a gradual unfolding or growth (Oxford English Dictionary, 2012).
Education
As an activity undertaken or initiated that is designed to effect changes in the knowledge, skills & attitudes (knowles, Holton III & Swanson, 2005).
As one of the off-job methods of training & development (Torrington, 2008).

Training
Practical education in any profession, art or craft (Oxford English Dictionary, 2012)
Planned & systematic effort to modify or develop knowledge, skills & attitudes through learning experience (Harrison, 1993).

Difference of Training, Development & Education
Education
This activity focuses upon the jobs that an individual may potentially hold in the future & is evaluated against those jobs.
Development
This activity focuses upon the activities that the organization employing individual or the individual part of, may partake in the future, and is almost impossible to evaluate.
Training
This activity is both focused upon & evaluated against, the job that an individual currently holds.
Conclusion

Training, development & education are essentially concerned with learning.
