SETS
Sets have some symbolsthat we need to know.
Equal Sets (=)
Two sets contain the same elements is said to be equal sets.
İntersection union(∩)
The intersection of sets A and B is the set of the elements which are common for A and B
Proper subset
If a subset of a is not equal to itself, it is called proper subset. If X is a proper subset of the set Y,then X⊂Y or Y⊃X
union (U)
The union of sets A and B is the set of all elements which belong to A or B or both .
Empty Set ( { },Ø)
A set which contains no element is called empty set.
Element of (∈)
an element (or member) of a set is any one of the distinct objects that belong of that set
Universal Set(U)
The set contains all the elementsbeing discussed is called universal set.
Properties of Sets
İdempotent property
Commutative property
Distrubitive property
Associative Property
Subset property
De Morgan's Law 1- (A∪B)'=A'∩B' 2- (A∩B)'=A'∪B'
Representation of sets
A set can be represented in three ways
Venn diagram
Elements of a set are written in a simple closed shape. This type of representation called Venn diagram.
Set-builder form
If there are some comman properties among the elements of the set, than set-builder form can be used to write it.Sometimes Venn diagram and listed form are not pratical to show a set in such a situation, we can use Set-builder form
Listed form
Elements of sets are written inside of the brackets { } by putting comma between two elements.
Goerg Cantor is the first matmathematician who uses the "SET CONCEPT" in mathematics.

Relationship Betwee Symbolic Logic and Operations on Sets
Goerg Cantor defines set as a "collection of well defined objects which are different from each other"
