Step1 Screening
Mike is the student with academic struggling and lower class participation in my class. I check his learning history and process. A recurrent learning issue and an new learning issue will be put into class observation list. This step will help me to identify, develop, and implement alternative education strategies for his recognized problems in the classroom.
Step2 Evaluation
When Mike continued to experience difficulty, present his frustration and depression to all of his classes, we referred Mike for a special education evaluation. This was initiated by Middle school counselors, the Middle school principal and his legal guardian. The SST (school support team ) started with all of the evaluation processes.
Step3 Eligibility determination
-Mike’s parent provided valuable insight into Mike’s behavior and personality in other environments. Mike refused to go to school ,he cried and shouted with hard emotion control at home. The psychiatrists suggested that Mike should take special program rather than take the current courses after tested his intelligence, achievement, behavioral issues and mental condition.
Step4 IEP Meeting
Backgroung check- The SST team reviewed the profile that provides Mike’s background information, information regarding performance in the classroom and on formal assessments, and the reason he or she is receiving special education services
Step5 School provide services. Our SST team provide resources to help parents to support MIke
Step6 Report Progress
SST meets with the parent frequently to check if the program suitable for Mike
-Step7 Review IEP and Reevaluate
SST checks Mike’s class situation weekly. Mike’s parents helped him to build up his portfolio ; I helped Mike to present his works to other students which helped him to practice social skills.
