Voyageur means traveller.
Men from New France traveled between Montreal and the Great Lakes Fur Trade Posts.
The Catholic Church/Clergy
Clergy provided moral and spiritual guidance to people who needed help making decisions.
Founded schools, hospitals and orphanages.
Played a huge role in the identity of New France
Farmers
Seigneurs
Were usually nobility, but sometimes commeners could be seigneurs.
Encouraged people to settle on their land.
Seigneuers owned large amounts of land.
Habitants
Had more options in New France than in France as habitants.
In exchange for rights to start a farm they had to clear land and build a home
Owed a few days of the year to the seigneurs.
