TASK 1 For each topic add in the following information:
WHAT advice?
WHY/HOW? I.e. the mechanism/s?
WHO?
TASK 2 Look at the practice Exam Q's, which topics would be appropriate to cover?
You have been employed as a Sport Nutritionist by British Cycling. The Senior Sport Scientist has asked you to write a report on optimal hydration and recovery strategies for the road cycling team in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games. The event you have been asked to focus on is the men’s road race, which is a distance of approximately 250 km. In the 2012 London Olympics, the winning time was 5 hours, 45 minutes and 57 seconds.
A leisure centre wishes to develop a nutrition handbook for its customers and have approached you for assistance. They would particularly like sections on nutrition outlining advice on losing weight and ‘bulking-up’. How could you help?
Your answers should include a strong physiological rationale and academic references to support your recommendations.
TASK 3 At home, using the suggested structures, have a go at answering the two practice questions before next week.
