Bender essentially lives his life according to his master status, stigma consciousness, and stereotype threat. He has been told all his life that he is dumb, good for nothing, and a low-life. He believes that people will see him like this and only this. He has constantly been deemed a punk and he knows this is how others view him (stigma consciousness). When Andy calls him out for berating Claire, he says, "What do you care what I think anyway? I don't even count, right? I could disappear forever and it wouldn't make any difference. I may as well not even exist at this school, remember?" He is programmed to think that his opinion or contributions to society are null and unimportant, that society would be better off without him. He then creates a self-fulfilling prophecy, in which he acts as the stereotype placed upon him.
