Group 12: Everything we need to know about Accreditation of Certification Bodies Scheme (ACB)

Accredetation Process
Submission of application
: Application checked for basic information, application accepted, payment made and application ready to be formally processed.
Documentation review
: A review of applicant's documentation is undertaken against relevant standards.
Pre-assesment (optional)
: An applicant can request for a pre-assesment to be conducted.
Compliance assesment
: A compliance assesment carried out on the applicant's documented quality system. against Standard Malaysia Accreditation Criteria. Involves the witnessing of applicant's certification auditors in action
Review of assessment report
: Reviewed by an Impartial and independent Accreditation Review Panel (ARP) who will then make a recommendation.
Approval of accreditation
: Director General makes final decision on accreditation

Maintenance of accreditation
: Accredited CB will be subjected to surveillance assessment to ensure continue compliance with Standard Malaysia Accreditation of three years, the frequency of surveillance will be reduced as stipulated in ACB7.

Re-assessment
: Certificate of accreditation expires at the end of fifth year. Prior to expiry, a comprehensive re-assessment is conducted on accredited CB's quality system.

Witnessing
: Witnessing of certification audits is part and parcel of maintenance activity associated with each accredited program. Standards Malaysia may also request witnessing of audits for dormant and critical scopes.

Actual professional charges, cost of return flights (business class) and accommodation arising from engaging overseas assessors will be charge directly to the certification body
Assessors contracted by Standards Malaysia to perform assessments overseas - by quotation
Appeal Fee - RM 1500.00
