Thinking about my audience
Conveying my message
Why should they care? Because my message will help them with applying things they learn to where it is the most beneficial in their life.
Why is my message important? Because as students we constantly ask ourselves "why do I need to know this?" "when will I ever use this?" with my message I am showing them the importance of connecting the things they are learning to stuff they already know
Benefit: Not only will this help students with a history class, but with any information they receive in their life. My message will show them the importance of ambiguity and making connections to things they already know in the way they see fit
How does my message relate to what's most important to them? It's hard to decide for an entire group of people, students, what their most important goal is. However as a student I would say a pretty important thing is doing well in school. In order to do this we need to learn that sometimes there isn't one answer, and that's okay. We also need to learn that one piece of information isn't very beneficial: we need to also learn how to apply it to our life.
Motivation
What catches my audiences attention: relaxed learning, freedom, ability to think for themselves
What is most important to my audience: LEARNING
What is least important to my audience: Small facts, random details, memorization, boring content.
What bores my audience: subjects they don't care about and aren't interested in, the inability to relate to the thing they are learning
Communication
music
brochures
posters
flyers
talking to people
newspapers
billboards
social media
advertisement
Language and style
I will be doing visual (of some sort) project, because in my experience people don't want to have their time taken up for a set period of time (for example if the video is 15 minutes they may not want to spend that time). With visual messages, the person can spend as much/little time as they want reading the message.
I will use a tone that implies we are in conversation, rather than too formal or too relaxed.
I will use English, since that is my first language
