- - - - Involves coating metal with another metal this protective layer helps t prevent the Iro from having contact with oxygen and water
    - - Used for large objects like cars ships but if the paint is scratched,the metal will start to erode and supplementary layers of paint need to be added
    - - Oiling and greasing is used on tools and machine parts but must be regularly replenished so that the Metal doesn't erode
    - - used to prevent kitchenware from corroding but if the plastic layer is torn the metal will start to corrode

        The carbon in coke burns to produce carbon dioxide

      - 2nd Reaction
        
        As the carbon dioxide rises,it reacts with more coke to form carbon monoxide
        Carbon dioxide + Carbon-----Carbon monoxide
      - 3rd Reaction
        
        Haematite is reduced to iron the carbon monoxide reduces the iron[iii] oxide in haematite to molten iron
        iron[iii] oxide + Carbon monoxide -----Molten Iron+ Carbon dioxide
      - 4th reaction
        
        Limestone is decomposed by heat to form carbon dioxide and calcium oxide
        Calcium carbonate-----Calcium oxide + carbon dioxide
        Since calcium oxide is a basic oxide it reacts with silicon dioxide and with other impurities in haematite to form molten slag
        Calcium oxide +Silicon dioxide-----Calcium silicate
