IMPORTANCE
In Liga 123 (2017-18), the teams who were able to demonstrate the strongest performances on set pieces were promoted.
Also interestingly, the teams who performed the best on set pieces from the teams in contention for relegation were saved from relegation.
It is not to overlook other areas of the game, or to consider set pieces as the deciding factor, but the importance of set-pieces should not be overlooked.

SP REPORTS
SP Pre-game report
- A pre-game file that can include videos demonstrating trends and irregularities of the rival, and presented in a clear and concise manner. For example, strengths and weaknesses of the opponent's free-kicks and corner kicks.
SP Pre-game adjustments (in situ) report
- this is the least frequent as it would require an extra work-load on the pre-game report, but it has the potential to be very useful depending on what the opposition do with their line-up etc, highlighting potential favourable match-ups etc
SP Post-game report
- typically provided a day or two after a game to highlight the team's own performance in SPs. Commenting on prominent strengths and weaknesses.
SP Cumulative reports
- this is done periodically, possibly every 6 games to give a bigger picture of the set pieces, their efficacy and so on
