Fascism’s Rise In Italy
Unlike communism, fascism had no clearly defined theory or program. Fascists wore uniforms of a certain color, used special salutes, and held mass rallies. Some similarities were that both systems were ruled by dictators who allowed only their own political party. Both denied individual rights, and the state was the supreme. Fascists used social classes, but Communists were internationalists wanting to unite workers worldwide.

Fascism's rise in Italy was all because of the failure to win large territorial gains in the 1919 Paris Peace Conference. The rising inflation and unemployment made the democratic system fail, so everyone look to a stronger better leader. Benito Mussolini a politician and newspaper editor, promised to help Italy. He and his black shirt clan attacked and criticized any government or revolts. This led to his liking by the middle class, aristocracy, and industrial workers. In October 1922 about 30,000fascist went to King Victor Emmanuel the 3 and demanded to put Mussolini in charge. King Victor with no other option put Mussolini legally in charge to protect his dynasty.

Mussolini was now 𝖨l Duce or the leader. He abolished democracy and outlawed all political parties except the Fascist Party. He used violence to enforce his policies, and set up secret police. Just like Stalin with the Gulags, and Mussolini also outlawed strikes. No matter how hard Mussolini tried he didn't have the control like Stalin in the Soviet Union orAdolff Hitler in Germany.
