Actions To Mitigate Climate Change
Issues contributing to climate change
Things that release Greenhouse gasses in the Atmosphere
Burning of Fossil Fuels
The burning of fossil fuels is a major issue because it releases massive amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. This causes the Earths global temperatures to rise because they trap more heat in the atmosphere.
Cow farms
Cow farms are a major contributor to climate change. This is because they release a gas called methane (CH4). Methane is the second most prominent greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and traps about 30 times more heat than Carbon dioxide.
Traveling with a low carbon footprint
Buy an electric powered car
Electric powered cars are great because they eliminate the issue of cars releasing greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.
Walk and bike when possible
Walking and biking is another great mean of transportation because there are no greenhouse gasses being released plus you get physical exercise that everyone needs.
Use public transportation
Using public transportation is a great idea because it has the best greenhouse gas emissions per person ratio. This is because 1 bus can hold about 5 times the amount of a car but still produce the same amount of carbon. In the case of a train or subway it's even more efficient.
Using solar and wind powered energy
Issues with traditional fuel sources
About 1.4 billion people around the world rely on traditional fuels like coal and wood to meet their basic energy needs. This is harmful to the environment.
Wind powered energy
Wind power comes from wind turbines. Wind turbines work by having wind turn the propeller-like blades of a turbine around a rotor, which spins a generator, which creates electricity. This is important because with the wind as the energy source no burning of greenhouse gases are needed.
Solar powered energy
Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of technologies such as solar power to generate electricity. It is very effective because it doesn't produce any greenhouse gases.
Limiting factories carbon emissions
What is the Issue With Factories?
The issue with factories is that when they run they release lots of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This causes the Earths global temperatures to rise because they trap more heat in the atmosphere.
How to Fix the Pollution Issue
The best option for dealing with the dilemma is by switching from coal to natural gas fuel. Factories that switch from coal to natural gas fuel can dramatically reduce emissions of mercury, particulates, greenhouse gasses, and other contaminants such as sulphur.
Planting Trees
What planting trees does
Planting trees are an amazing way to keep CO2 out of the atmosphere. This is because trees absorb the CO2. The less CO2 in the atmosphere than the less climate change will take place.
How to Plant More Trees
Planting trees is really simple! You can do your part by something as simple as placing a seed in the ground.
