Cutting Process, How to identify a good Cut order plan(Lay plan)? - Coggle…
Cutting Process
:red_flag:Lay?
Defination: In bulk cutting, a number of fabric plies are laid on the cutting table. The whole number of fabric plies that is spread on the table and cut at a time is called as lay
-
Lay slip?
A format or slip used to record lay details is known as lay slip. Lay slip is also known as lay order.
Lay slip normally records, such as the number of each lay, lay length, a number of fabric plies, a number of markers and number of plies spread from each fabric roll,Spreading time etc. are recorded
Layer ?
Layer(ply): In the lay, each fabric ply is called as a layer.
Lay Length?
Lay length: The length of the fabric ply in lay is called lay length. The lay length is planned according to the marker length
Lay height?
Lay height: After complete spreading of the fabric, we got a certain height of the lay. Lay height is maintained while fabrics are spread on the table to allow the cutting machine to cut the fabric. Lay height may vary depending on the cutting machines. Secondly, the number of fabric plies on a lay depends on the fabric thickness

End-bit?
- The fabric at the end of each roll which can’t be laid on the marker due to short length of the fabric ply is called as end bits
- a piece of fabric that is longer than the length required to lay up one complete size
Example: Suppose you got a fabric roll of 61 meters. Marker length is 5 meter. When you lay the fabric opening that roll after layering 12th layer you will have 1 meter fabric as end bit
-
End-loss?
While layering fabric on the cutting table, cutting allowance is taken at both ends of the ply. The allowance of fabric in length is called end loss. End loss can be also defined as length of fabric of a lay that doesn’t get covered by a marker
-
Example: Assume that calculated marker length is 6 meters and you marked on the tables for layering plies taking 2 cm allowance at each end of the marker. So end loss per layer is 4 cm. If you have a lay of 100 plies, end loss will be equal to 400 cm (4 meters).
:red_flag:Marker?
a) A man who prepares the pattern layout and/or who marks the layout onto the lay or onto a paper or a cloth.
b) A piece of paper, cloth etc. representing the layout.
:red_flag:Marker Efficiency(%) = (The area of the patterns used in the marker / The area of the marker) *100

Workflow
1.Preparing cut ratio
-
Prior to cutting, cutting department get a job sheet from planning department or merchandiser or production manager that includes total quantity of garment pieces to be cut, sizes ratio of the garments and color wise size break up. According to the size and color ratio, cutting team prepares one marker or multiple markers. Marker length and number of lay to be cut are planned in this stage.
