Do you fear having a
Discovery Zoom Call?
It helps a lot when you know
You have carefully selected
these people from LinkedIn
Their profiles indicate they are open
They have accepted your
invitation to Zoom
So, most likely they have checked your profile
and are impressed
Not so much by you
But by your willingness to connect them
with relevant others
(once trust has been established)
If it doesn't seem like a fit
It's easy to gracefully end the call
without mentioning the CC at all
You have set a limited time for this call
Via Calendly (or equivalent)
Action cures fear!
You'll get better at it!
You are not there to convince them of anything
You are there to "discover" how important
network-building is to them
And whether you'd like them as part of your team
You are only need to FIND a few
Who find a few
Who find a few
Asking questions will help you connect
"Many people communicate, few connect"
Establishing an initial connection is vital
It's easy to establish some initial questions by looking at their profile
Where do they live?
Do you have some commonality of background?
But don't ramble too much!
Keep the conversation flowing
I noticed "blah" from your profile
Could you tell me a bit more about what you are looking for?
Paint a picture in your mind
Questions are the answers
Ask transitioning questions
It sounds like your experience is similar to mine
I've always found my best opportunities have always come through my network - how about you?
What are your objectives?
Determine if you would like them as part of your team
I am working with a group of others who are taking a different approach to building their own networks
alongside others doing the same
We are using a system developed by the Connect Collaborative to build our networks.
Would you like to sit in on a CC intro session, meet meet some others & see how they're benefiting from building their networks?
Develop wording that works for you
End the call gracefully
If anything comes up, I'll let you know
building a network is to them
