Vannessa Flores p5. 06 Nervous system
classification of neurons
Multipolar neurons
:Many dendrites,One axon arising from their cells bodies
Most neurons with cell bodies in CNS are multipolar
Bipolar Neurons
:Have 2 processes extending from the cell body, dendrite and 1 axons,Found in special sense, i.e eyes, nose, ears.
Unipolar Neurons
:1 process extending from the cell body,Outside the cell body, it sp lit into 2 parts that function as 1 axon has dendrite near a peripheral body part
Major parts and functions of the brain
4 Main parts of the brain
Brainstem
- attached to cerebellum and coordinates and regulates visceral act
Cerebellum
-smaller back portion of the brain: coordinates muscular activity
Cerebrum-
largest portion of we brain: associated with higher mental functions
Diencephalon-
Inner part of cerebrum and processes sensory input and controls homeostatic processes
12 pairs of cranial nerves :
.
Hypoglossal-conducts to muscles that move the tongua
movoment
Accossory-conducts muscles essantial to nock and shoulder
Vagus-Associatad with speach and swallowing
tonsils
Glossopharamgoal-conduct impulses from pharynx and
sensa of equilibrium
B. Vastibulocochloar conducts impulses associated with the
Facial conducts impulsos associalod with taste raceptors
Abducons-conducts impulsos to musclas that mova ayas
to ar glands, scalp, and forehaad
Trigominal ophthalmic division conducts impulsas from ayes,
Trochloar-conducts impulses to musclos that movo ayas
Oculomotor-conducts impulsas to muscles that movo ayalid=
Optic-senso of vision
Olfactory- sense of small
Spinal nerves
.
1 pair of coccygpal naNas
12 pairs of thoracic nervos
8 pairs of carical nervos
5 pairs of sacral naNos
5 pairs of lumbar nervos
4 major functions of the nervous system
internal process of physiology
movement
sensory input- detects internal and external changes
motor output
Thinking
integration and processing
