mind map, There are many types of forces that are all caused by different…

Static friction is the force it takes to get something and kinetic friction it the force it takes to keep it moving.

Newtons 1st law says that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
For example a skateboard on flat ground that is moving but no one is pushing it will eventually stop because of friction and air resistance but in space, those forces wouldn't be there so it would go forever.
-
Newtons second law says that acceleration is directly proportional to net force and inversely proportional to mass, A=F/M
Pushing a 10 kg box with the same amount of force as a 20 kg box will 2 times faster.
Newtons third law says that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so if you push on an object it pushes back with the same amount of force.
when someone pushes on an object, it pushes back just as hard, whichever thing has less mass will move because it takes less force to move it

Free body diagrams are diagrams with a box or a dot in the center to represent the object, and arrows going in the directions of the forces.
-
If the friction is less than the applied force, the object will move forward. The friction can't be more than the applied force, but if the applied force is less than the maximum friction (the amount of friction there is when there is enough applied force to overcome friction) it won't move.
-
If there is an arrow in one direction that's longer than the arrow in the opposite direction, then the object accelerates in the direction of the longer arrow.
-
Normal force is the force that supports the object, if the object is on a surface, then the surface is providing a normal force that is equal and opposite to gravity. If there is no normal force there is either no gravity or the object is falling.
the force of gravity on an object is the mass times the acceleration of gravity (9.8 m/s/s on earth)
-
So in this diagram, the acceleration is rightward. the gravity and normal force are balanced, so there is not any vertical acceleration.
