        A fretless bass is a bass guitar, without the frets showing where the fingers should be placed which is commonly used in modern African music.

        There is another instrument, not used by the band, but mentioned in the opening lyrics, called a National guitar. This was a brand of guitar that had a steel plate that almost covered the sound hole. It had a warbling, twangy sound.
