Tea bowls, which carry great cultural significance in Japan, China, and Korea, are often considered nothing more than collectors' items by those in high society and members of the art world. However, their craftsmanship and design often tells a fascinating story of when and how the bowl was made, and for this reason museum curators have been trying to get these bowls into a more public and academic housing, rather than being kept locked up as a collector's trinket like so many porcelain vases.
