The Scope & Formation
- Generally, the term 'scope of work' describe of the work that is expected to be performed under a particular contract.
- Sometimes it will simply offer a very broad description of he works required, whilst sometimes it provides a complete description of the project, significant milestones, a program of work with the expected time frames for delivery, reports, pricing, deliverables, roles and responsibilities & end product that are to be provided.
- A scope of work can be useful way of agreeing broad project requirements for both the client and supplier.
- Most forms of contract make provisions for the contract administrator to instruct reasonable variations which may give rise to additions or deductions from the contract sum.
- Term 'scope of work' generally used to refer to construction activities, however, a 'scope of services' which describes the services a consultant will be performing on a project may also sometimes be referred to as a scope of work.
- Term 'scope of work' can also used interchangeably with the term *'schedule of work'. *
- term 'Schedule of work' has a more specific meaning, referring to 'without quantities' instructional lists often produced on smaller projects or for alteration work as an alternative to bills of quantities.
