Economy
Hjalmar Schacht (minister from 1933 - 1945) introduced the Reich Labour Service to Germany, this would provide a 6 month occupational tenure for the unemployed and would be made compulsory in 1935.
1934 - The New Plan is introduced by Hjalmar Schacht; this is done to focus Germany's economy on industry rather than Welfare.
Schacht's Strength Through Joy campaign provided individuals with rewards for their work, allowed for leisure activities during break hours at the workplace and acted as a replacement for trade unions.
There were 6 million unemployed Germans by January of 1933, it dropped to only 300,000 by 1939.
1933 - The Reich Entailed Farm Law is introduced, it offered protection for farmers against competition, maximising agricultural output in Germany.
1937 - Hermann Goering takes Hjalmar's position as economic minister, introducing the 4 year plan; focusing Germany's economy on militarism and industrialism, preparing for war in 4 years.
Turning Point
August 27th 1939 - Rationing is introduced in Germany, Jews were entitled to fewer rations than Aryans were.

1942 - Total war is introduced, German industry is focused on war preparation.
1943 - Goebbels announces the closure of non-essential businesses. Over 3 million women are encouraged to go into industry but only 1 million did.

Hitler's Blitzkrieg tactics aimed to take several European nations in quick succession. This included Poland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway and France.
Law
800,000 Germans were imprisoned from 1933 to 1945 because they were deemed "enemies of the state".
The Gestapo only contained 16,000 members at its peak, most of its influence came from paranoia and propaganda.
Only ~15% of Gestapo cases were found through surveillance, the rest came were a result from intelligence provided by a neighbour/ relative/ friend.
The SS increased in size from 500 to 50,000 in four years.
Effects of War

May 1943 - Allied bombing tactics alter, they begin to focus on decreasing German morale through bombing; civilian populations were targeted.
1943 - Hamburg is bombed twice, killing over 100,000 and destroying 60% of buildings there.
As a result of allied bombing raids, around 800,000 were killed and 50% of the raids hit residential areas.
Segregation
1935 - The Nuremberg Laws are passes, formalising anti-semitism by stripping Jewish Germans of their citizenship and prohibiting Jewish-Aryan marriage.

The Final Solution was carried out in 3 phases:
- 1) Jews were confined to ghettos, many starved or died of disease here.
- 2) Mass killings begin, Jews would be shot and buried in large numbers.
- 3) Extermination camps are introduced following the Wannsee Conference in January of 1942.
9th November 1938 - Kristallnacht takes place, the SS attack Jewish homes businesses and synagogues in response to the assassination of vom Rath. After the pogrom, the Jewish community were fined 1,000,000,000 Reichsmarks.
Education
The Nazis implemented the National Socialist Teachers' League. By 1936, over 97% of teacher's joined.
