Ratio
definition of Ratio:
The indicated quotient of two mathematical expressions. b : the relationship in quantity, amount, or size between two or more things : proportion. 2 : the expression of the relative values of gold and silver as determined by a country's currency laws.
Example of what a ratio is:
in mathematics, a ratio indicates how many times one number contains another. For example, if there are eight oranges and six lemons in a bowl of fruit, then the ratio of oranges to lemons is eight to six (that is, 8∶6, which is equivalent to the ratio 4∶3). ... Equal quotients correspond to equal ratios.
Double number line
How to make:
You have to make two evenly parallel line that has a line on the top and bottom so that you can have a line graph. On top of both of the line you put the unit to resemble the problem.
How to use: Now you you put the number of the the ratio on top of the line and now you have to either divide of multiple to get the completed ratio.
Give an example: There are 3 apples and there are 5 bananas. But then sarah got 5 of each fruit. How many bananas and apples are there?

Big to small units
What operation do we use:
We have to use multiplication because we know that when it is a smaller unit, it's basically like kilometers to meters and 1 kilometer equals 1000 meters.
What we multiply it by:
We multiply it by the amounts of gaps between the two digit and then we multiply it by that. (ex) If we tried to find out how many centimeters are in meters we would see that the decimeter is in between the centimeters and meters. Then we know we have to multiply the meters by 100. And how you calculate it you have to see what is after the unit. If there is one unit behind it then you multiply it by 10 but if there is a unit between them then you have to multiply it by 100 and so on.
Small units to big units
What operation do we use:
We basically us the same operation like the big to small but it is reversed because the unit is bigger but it looks like it is lower because that is how many in that one unit. (ex) There is 1000 meters in a kilometer but the kilometer is bigger bigger cause you only need one kilometer to have 1000 meters.
What do we divide it by:
We divide it by the amounts of gaps between the two digit and then we divide it by that. (ex) If we tried to find out how many meters are in centimeters we would see that the decimeter is in between the centimeters and meters. Then we know we have to divide the centimeters by 100. And how you calculate it you have to see what is after the unit. If there is one unit behind it then you divide it by 10 but if there is a unit between them then you have to divide it by 100 and so on.
