Adolescent Brain & Social Media
Formation of Habit Loop
Social Media will trigger us (notifications, etc)
We will react by giving comments, likes, etc. (It will form habit in us)
We wait for other's reaction.
When others react, we will feel happy as for us, reactions = rewards.
When we're addicted,
Our brains will keep on expecting information
Nucleus Acumbens (reward centre) will be activated.
Same area is activated when feelings associated with food, sex and money.
Notifications, etc is like rewards that release dopamine into our brains, to give us pleasure.
