Enzymes
-
Enzymes are globular proteins that act as acatylyst. They lower the activation energy that is required for reactions to begin.
Enzymes have a region where specific substrates can bind to, this is called active siste. The active site is where only 1 substrate can bind. The shape of the active site is complementary to the substrate.
-
Enzyme Specificity
Enzymes are specific for their substrates. The complementary binding of one substrate to a enzyme is called Enzyme Specificty. Only one substrate can be complementary to the enzyme's active site.
-
Induced-Fit Model
It refers to how when substrates bind to the active site of enzymes, the enzymes slightly change to have a more snug fit.
