Charles takes them home and from that moment on Charles and Anna started exchanging letters but as Anna was illiterate she couldn't write or read them. Mrs Harnham writes them for her and reads Charles's to her

When Anna and Mrs Harnham are about to go home, Charles (who likes Anna not Mrs Harnham) accidently takes Mrs Harnham's hand instead of Annas but no one except from Mrs Harnham (Edith White) which is where Edith really starts to like Charles

Charles doesn't know that it's Edith writing them as her doesn't know Anna's illiterate which means that Anna doesn't fully know what Edith's writing. Anna goes off back to live in the countryside leaving Edith to write whatever she wants and she writes something really sweet to Charles still pretending to be Anna and Charles is really taken by it

They start to like each other and then Mrs Harnham comes over to check on Anna from her house where she first meets Charles and is also attracted to him even though she is already married to a rich wine-merchant. But their marriage isn't very happy

Charles then decides he wants to marry Anna as she is somehow pregnant still not knowing she's illiterate which means at the wedding they get married and then Anna has to break the news to Charles that they weren't her letters and she's illiterate. this makes Charles quite surprised and angry and he decides to give Edith one kiss (as he really liked her letters) without Anna knowing. Anna and Charles stay married but it ruins his reputation a bit as Anna isn't lever and Charles is

Charles Raye (a lawyer from London) visits a theme park where he meets Anna ( a young assistant to Mrs Harnham) on a merry-go-round where they talk
