Syntactically, their grammatical status is different: 1) the 's Gen precedes & determines the head Noun, 2) the Of-phrase usually postmodifies the head Noun.
1) The 's Gen NP functions as a definite determiner.
2)The of-phrase functions as a postmodifier.

INTRO
Possession belongs to the human psychology and behaviour, in short, we could say that it is in our minds and is part of our most primitive everyday life and instincts. Also, it is expressed in every language by different structures and English is not an exception
