Advantages
They usually focus on one topic/subtopic of an area
Textbooks give a good overview of a topic and are proof read/checked at several different stages before publication
The time between it writing and publication is relatively short, so information and knowledge they provide is as up to date as possible
Disadvantages
Level of language used, which can be inaccessible without pre-existing level of knowledge in the topic area
As publishing usually takes over a year to publish elements of the textbook maybe become out of date
E-learning
It is learning that takes place electronically
Users access e-Learning platforms or e-Learning package
Resources that may be included are: text files, videos, animation and audio
Quizzes are often used to check understanding
Advantages
Accessibility is the main advantage as it can be accessed anywhere
MOOC's (Massive Open Online Course)
Massive
Number of learners taking the course can be massive
Open
Anyone can take part in the course - there is no admissions process

Websites Google Search
Advantages
Search engines allow an extensive list of possible source to be generated in milliseconds on the results page (SERP)
Algorithms search through the sources to give the most accurate list of relevant sources. the most relevant will be at the top of the SERP page
Disadvantages
The WWW is not regulated therefor information may be unreliable
Approximately 252k new webpages are added to the WWW each day, therefore SERP pages can be very large. Making it difficult to find the most reliable source.
Fake news and breaches of user information
Professional Networks and Peers
This can be a personal network of associates gathered over time as a person progresses through their career.
It can be also a professional body that you apply for membership
Professional bodies: will run conferences, provide lectures and give access to experts and subject matter.
Advantages
The reliability of information from peers and conferences is high.
Due to the requirements to meet membership will require professional qualifications
Minor Disadvantages
Time off work to attend; negotiated with employer usually.
