Respiratory system. - Coggle Diagram
Respiratory system.
Lower respiratory structure and functions
Larynx =, Trachea, Bronchial Tree and Lungs
Upper respiratory structure and functions.
Nose, Nasal cavity, Sinuses and Pharynx
Nose- Provides openings for entrance and exit of air Nasal Cavity- Hollow space posterior to the nose.
Paranasal Sinuses- Small hollow spaces in the bones around the nose
Pharynx (Throat)- Space behind oral and nasal cavities and larynx (vocal cords)
layers of the pleurae
The layers are separated by a fluid called the pleurae fluid.
compare and contrast the mechanism of inspiration and expiration
Inspiration is Inhalation, It expands the thoracic cavity. There is also Maximal which is in other words a Deep Breath
Respiratory volume and capacities
There are four different types of respiratory volumes: 1.)Tidal Volume- Volume of air that enters and leaves the body 2.)Inspiratory Reserve Volume- Volume of air inhaled 3.)Expiratory Reserve Volume-Volume of air exhaled 4.)Residual Volume- Volume of air remained in the lung
Total lung capacity- Total volume that the lungs can hold in (air)
Internal vs. external respiration
Respiratory event: Ventilation-breathing External Respiration- gas exchange from blood and lungs Gas Transport-blood between the lungs and body cells Internal Respiration-Gas exchange between blood and body cells
Major functions of the respiratory system.
Volume and pressure relationships in the thoracic cavity.
Disorder of the respiratory system.
