CARER
INTERESTED
I always enjoy fixing problems, whether it be mine or someone else's. There are some jobs in this cluster that I also seem to have a little bit of interest in.
In carer jobs, you are often required to work with other people, whether it be in collaboration with co-workers or clients, and I like that factor of those jobs.
I feel that I would enjoy a workplace which requires more social interaction, then one which requires me to sit at a desk and work the entire day.
REQUIRED SKILLS
The want to help. In order to help someone, you need to have the desire to help them, only when you actually want to help them can you do so in the most efficient and effective ways.
Collaborative skills. In this cluster of jobs, it is important to have collaborative skills. Though you are required to work independently at times, there are also many occasions when you would need to contact and work with other people of a similar field, so you can collaboratively help a patient or client.
Social interaction skills. I think that it is quite important to have social interaction skills if you were to work in this cluster. All the jobs in this category fall under helping and caring for people, and in order to do so, you would need to talk with them to understand their problems.
ACQUIRED SKILLS
Time management. I am able to manage my time very well, which I feel is a useful skill to have in this field of work as you would not need to rush anything which is important
I have pretty good social interaction skills, and at most times I don't find it too difficult to talk to people who I don't know, which I feel would be a helpful skill to have in this cluster.
Prudence. I feel that I have developed my character strength of prudence to a level where I can be careful when completing tasks and I am able to make sure that I am doing everything correctly.
CHARACTER STRENGHTS
Perspective. I think that is is important to have perspective as only then can you understand the patient or clients point of you. Understanding their perspective is very useful to help them in the most efficient and effective way.
Prudence. It carer jobs, specifically those in the medical field, it is necessary to have prudence. You always need to be careful in these jobs and make sure you're doing it correctly. The one thing worse than not helping someone, is giving them the solution to a problem them don't have.
Social Intelligence. It is crucial to have social intelligence in this kind of job. Sometimes the information that is shared by patients or client can be quite sensitive or personal, and it's important to understand and respect them.
IDENTITY
I have been to multiple different types of carers, such as GP's, orthodontists, optometrists and a few more. I have seen a rough idea of how these jobs work and what needs to be done when in that field.
I have a brother who is studying to become an optometrist, therefore I have gained some knowledge about this field and how it works through talking with him.
PASSIONS
Science. I have somewhat of a passion in science, and therefore, I feel that it would be useful in this field as many of the jobs in this job cluster revolve around the medical field, which required some sort of science
I have a little bit of interest in social work and helping people, which one again is a great passion to have in this field as it is all about trying to help and care for people who need assistance
