WHAT DID THESE NAZI ORGANISATIONS DO FOR THE STANDARD OF LIVING?
KDF
strength through joy
Germany and German workers will become stronger by enjoying themselves.
the more work that the german worker do , they get rewards based on there work, such as concert tickets , sport event tickets, theatre and weekend holidays which were cheaper. hitler did this because due to the rewards people would work more because they would get rewards.
people would get rewarded cruises for the weekend and sometimes hitler would offer the workers a volkswagen car (german model) for the people who worked the most
10 million people took KdF holidays in 1938
However, very few people actually got to go on the top rewards, like the Mediterranean cruises.
The top awards (e.g. cruises) were rarely given out.
No one ever got a Volkswagen using the KdF scheme, as the factories started to produce things for the war instead of the cars that had been promised.
SDA
beauty of labour
workplaces were made beautiful for the workers to have a better area when they work , and would like it more
the main role was to improve the working conditions, it was originally part of the DAF
hitler wanted the workers to enjoy working ,he did this by adding swimming pools and more canteens, better lighting and sport facilities. This would make workers happier about having to work hard,
The workers had to construct these new facilities during their holidays.
The campaigns for better lighting in the workplace made the work safer, but no more enjoyable or rewarding.
DAF
german labour front
Trade unions are replaced by this organisation. It will make sure that workers and employers get a fair deal.
this organisation focused on the relationship between the workers and the employer , it replaced trade unions in 1933.
the daf would set wages ,and they used posters and things which had photos with the worker and the employer holding hands, which meant to hitler that the employers and workers were equal to each other . meaning fair rules ,meaning no strikes.
the DAF started started/set up the SDA,RAD and KDF. to improve germany's working facility and young people's mindsets. especially factory workers.
The DAF did not let workers negotiate for higher wages. Workers had to accept what they were offered.
Workers were no longer allowed to strike if it was unsafe or dangerous to go to work.
RAD
german labour service
they provided jobs for the young people
this was an organisation that the government gave jobs to the unemployed , which reduced the rate of unemployment and most people would have jobs and would be able to provide for their family
The jobs were boring and very tiring.
The wages paid by the RAD were very low.
