Energy Resources - Criteria D Summative
How does natural gas contribute to global warming
Methane is leaked when natural gas is extracted from underground, and when it is burned to create electricity.
Methane is the main component of green house gases, therefore it contributes to global warming a lot.
How does solar energy solution help global warming
Through transferring heat to energy, solar panels create electricity.
This process does not create any carbon emission.
Although solar energy does not directly improve the situation of global warming, but through replacing other fuels and energies, it could cope with air pollution.
solar panels use light energy, and t
Effects of renewable energy source - Solar energy
Benefits
Solar energy produces electricity, and it could be produced and used without producing methane. Which is a large factor that increases global warming.
Negatives
Implications - Social
Farmers are able to use solar energy in a productive way by managing and using the electricity produced by the solar panels.
This electricity produced by solar panel could lead to energy independence in remote farms where the storage of electricity could be difficult.
Implication - environmental
One material used by solar panels is called photovoltaic, and through producing this material, hazardous contents could leak out and pollute the surrounding.
As the fuel that is used for PV solar panels production, the process directly adds to global warming.
The production of solar panel boards used for energy transfer could be expensive because of the materials used. This could make it hard for everyone to use solar energy since people would have different economical incomes.
How can solar energy be developed (further)?
The solar panels could be created with materials that are more sustainable and common. Which makes it more accessable for more people.
Most solar panels are made from photovoltaic, and there are very few solar panels that are being produced with more environmentally friendly materials.
Introduction - Natural gas
Natural gas is a fossil fuel that is non renewable and is extracted from underground.
The main methods include hydraulic fracturing and fracturing. These methods either pollute the environment or disturb the ecosystems.
Advantages:
Cheap.
Natural gas could be applied in many industries.
Since it is a large industry, so it is able to provide job opportunities for workers.
Disadvantages:
The process of natural gas extraction pollutes large amounts of water resources.
The process of extraction could distress wildlife ecosystems.
Could produce methane and helps the process of global warming.
