Indigenous Health

land

so many tribes now in so little space, very geographically different than where they used to practice

acan not truly practice how they once did because the land is so important to various practices

robbed them of original understanding of land

cultural erasion

geographic separation of Hawaii and Alaska

easy to fall into pit fall of they're not taking care of their health

"they need to pick themself up from their bootstraps like others have"

own governments, own health care systems, NOT FUNDED

historical trauma

transmitted over generations

similar for Holoaust, Japanese Internment, Armenian Holocaust

physical health issues

aging of eggs and mitochondrial DNA

compounding effects of residential schools, not understanding how to parent, childhood trauma from parents who experienced alcoholism and more because of the trauma they experiences

VICIOUS CYCLE

ingrained that their traditions were bad, "everyone knew the Indian would die"

Holocaust: do we educate so much on it versus other because America is the savior instead of the problem like in the other historical events?

FPDIR: poorly funded, lack of nutrition

the splitting of tribes into different states and even different countries!!!

if so many tribes, we do we only nationally recognize and only help certain ones?
