Wood Strip

STEP 1 : PREPARING YOUR SUBFLOOR
- make sure base floor is clean and smooth
- remove the existing flooring and check for a completely
- place the silicone vapor shield based on the size of your room
- placing the vapor shield is important step to keep your floor safe from dampness
STEP 2 : MEASURING THE FLOORING
- need to cut your board to fit your room
STEP 3 : PREPARING YOUR DOORWAYS
- much easier to cut around your doorway than cut the flooring to match the door irregular shape
- stack a board on top of a section of the vapor shield and lay them next to the door's molding
- draw a line along the surface of the molding with the pencil
- use a jamb saw to make a cut
- flooring will just slip under it after cut the door frame
- it will leave a more finished look in the end
STEP 4 : LAYING THE FIRST ROW
- your board must parallel to your starting wall
- leave expansion gap on all walls using spacers
- drive flooring nails through the boards
- for a second board, install next to the first board by placing the upper drop lock end of the second board on the lower drop lock end of the first board
- when you approach the end of the first row, you have to cut the final board to the perfect length
- cut with the finish side up and use duct tape to mark the board more easily and reduce splintering
- you can cut the board using table saw, miter saw or panel saw
STEP 5 : SECOND ROW AND BEYOND
- you have to start the second row with a shorter or longer board than you did with the first row
- you don't have to nail down after the first row
- for starting the second row, hold the board with the tongue facing the previous row
- keep it at about 30 degree angle
- feed the tongue into the groove of the first row to making sure the tongue is snugly and securely engaged by pushing the board together
- maintain the pressure while pressing the board flat to lock the edge joints
- you need to position it for smooth, tight gap with no gaps
- use a tapping block and rubber mallet to knock the board into place or eliminate any gaps in the joints
- continue installing rows in the same way until the room is complete
STEP 6 : THE FINISHING TOUCHES
- remove the spacers and install a matching threshold baseboard once flooring has been installed
- quarter round molding to the walls using finishing nails
-caulk the edges of the base boarder molding to give everything a smooth finished look
