K9-VAJRA
The K9-Vajra is a 155-mm, 52-calibre tracked self-propelled howitzer based on the K9 Thunder built by Hanwha Defense.
The 100th gun was delivered to the Army in February 2021, the contract for which was signed in May 2017.
The contract involved maintenance transfer of technology to an Army base workshop to support the howitzers throughout their operational life cycle.
The K9-Vajra was mainly bought for use in deserts, but the stand-off prompted them to be deployed in the mountains as well.

Capable of handling multiple objects: It is capable of simultaneously tracking numerous incoming objects including aircraft, missiles and UAVs in a radius of a few hundred kilometres and launching appropriate missiles to neutralise them
It is capable of protecting its air defence bubble against rockets, missiles, cruise missiles and even aircraft.
Radars: It has radars that can pick up an incoming object up to a distance of 1,000 kilometres, track several dozen incoming objects simultaneously, distribute the targets to missile systems and ensure a high success rate
INS Arnala
Arnala is the first of the 8 anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft (ASW-SWC) that are currently being built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE).
The vessel made its first contact with the water of the Bay of Bengal during a recently-held launch ceremony in Chennai. The launch ceremony is one of the four important ceremonial occasions associated with a ship’s life. The other three are keel laying, commissioning and decommissioning.
The ship has been named Arnala to highlight the maritime significance of the Arnala island, which is situated some 13 km north of Maharashtra’s Vasai. Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj bestowed strategic importance on this island during his reign

The vessel can reach a maximum speed of 25 knots and can travel up to 1,800 nautical miles. The ship is powered by three diesel-powered water jets. It is made of some 80 percent of indigenous content
The ship has been named ‘Arnala’ to signify the strategic maritime importance accorded to the island of Arnala, located about 13 kilometres north of Vasai, Maharashtra, by Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji

The Portuguese conquered the island in 1530. They used it to control shipping and navigation along the northern Konkan coast.
In 1737, the island was captured by the Marathas.
It remained under the control of Marathas until 1817, when the British successfully captured it as the result of the Third Anglo-Maratha War.
INSV Tarini
Indian Navy’s sailboat INSV Tarini has set sail for an expedition to Cape Town, South Africa for participating in the 50th edition of Cape to Rio Race 2023

During the expedition while transiting from Goa to Rio de Janeiro via Cape Town and back, INSV Tarini would be covering a distance of almost 17000 nautical miles.
INSV Tarini is known for circumnavigating the globe with an all women officer crew in the historic expedition titled ‘Navika Sagar Parikrama’ in 2017.

“Kazind – 2022”
The 6th Edition of Indo - Kazakhstan joint training exercise “KAZIND-22” is scheduled to be conducted at Umroi
(Meghalaya) from 15 to 28 December 2022
Joint annual training exercise with the Kazakhstan Army was instituted in 2016 as Exercise Prabal Dostyk, which was later upgraded to a company level exercise and renamed as Ex Kazind in 2018.
Kazakhstan Army soldiers comprising of troops from the Regional Command, South and Indian Army soldiers from the 11 Gorkha Rifles will be participating in the exercise.
“YUDH ABHYAS 2022
The 18th edition of Indo - US joint training exercise “YUDH ABHYAS 22” is scheduled to be conducted in Uttarakhand
Exercise Yudh Abhyas is conducted annually between India and USA with the aim of exchanging best practices, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures between the Armies of the two nations

The previous edition of the exercise was conducted at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska (USA) 2021
It is the largest running joint military training and defence cooperation endeavor between India and the US.
The exercise was started in 2004 under the US Army Pacific Partnership Program. The exercise is hosted alternately between both countries.

Tiger Triumph exercise
The Indian and US militaries carried out a three-day joint humanitarian assistance exercise in Vishakhapatnam in line with the growing strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The first exercise took place over the course of nine days in November 2019 and featured more than 500 US Marines and sailors. The first exercise included 1200 Indian sailors, soldiers, and Airmen.
This year, the military exercise involved fifty combined participants, and it focused on staff planning, with an emphasis on processes for streamlining diplomatic, operational, and logistical coordination.
Tiger Triumph marked the third time in 2022 that Indian and US militaries have worked together in Vishakhapatnam.
The US joined India and more than thirty other nations for India’s bi-annual exercise Milan in February.
It is a comprehensive endeavor of the Indian and US military and diplomatic representatives to provide coordinated disaster relief to a notional third country hit by a super-cyclone
Garuda VII air exercise
Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF) are participating in 'Garuda VII' at Air Force Station Jodhpur.

Garuda VII is the seventh edition of the bilateral air exercise between India and France that is taking place after a gap of two years.
The first, third and fifth editions were conducted in India in 2003, 2006 and 2014 at Air Force Stations Gwalior, Kalaikunda and Jodhpur, respectively.
In this exercise, FASF will participate with four Rafale fighter aircraft, one A-330 Multi Role Tanker Transport(MRTT) aircraft and a contingent of 220 personnel

SURYA KIRAN -XVI
SURYA KIRAN” is conducted annually between India and Nepal with the aim to enhance interoperability in jungle warfare & counter terrorism operations in mountainous terrain and HADR under UN mandate.
Nepal Army soldiers of Shree Bhawani Baksh Battalion and Indian Army soldiers from the 5 GR will be participating in the exercise.
The two armies, through these contingents, shall be sharing the experiences gained during the conduct of various counter-insurgency operations over the years in their respective countries.
The joint exercise would focus on evolution of combined drills for planning and conduct of tactical operations at unit level in counter terrorism operations and disaster response mechanism in general and role of armed forces in management of disaster.
Naval Exercise Sangam
The 7th edition of Exercise Sangam, a joint Naval Special Forces exercise between Indian Navy MARCOs and US Navy SEALs commenced in Goa.
Exercise Sangam was first conducted in 1994 and is an important military and diplomatic initiative .
A joint exercise among US SEALs, Indian Navy MARCOs and other participating nations’ Naval Special Forces is held annually as part of Exercise Malabar. The Sangam exercise is a bilateral exercise purely between the US and Indian Special Forces
